2012 Programs — Instructors Wanted

Share your know-how, submit a workshop proposal!

I Heart Art: Portland is officially back from a holiday hiatus, and we’re busy planning our programing launch for March. That means WE NEED YOU! We are currently taking proposals for our 2012 business-development workshop series. This year we plan to host six workshops, two Mixer-Match sessions and a minimum of two salon discussions. But we can’t do any of this without you!

Professional Development Workshop Series

These two-hour workshops are the crux of our program. With a size cap of 40 people, instructors have an opportunity to reach a large number of people in an intimate setting. We encourage handouts, Q&A sessions, breakout groups, and lively discussion to spur quality participation. All workshops take place on Saturdays, from 11:00 am–1:30 pm, in The Lab at Museum of Contemporary Craft. There are typically six workshops in the series, and the small fee of $10 per participant serves to encourage active participation and supports our operations and future programs.

Honorarium: $150 (subject to change)

Criteria:

  • Two hours of curriculum or discussion with a break halfway through.
  • Topics focused on professional development or entrepreneurial skills, led with a positive and supportive attitude.
  • Self-contained workshops, allowing participants to leave confident about next steps and ready to implement skills or principles taught.
  • Visual presentation of some sort (slideshow, posters, whiteboard)
  • Must be comfortable speaking before a group, wearing a microphone, being photographed and being filmed (all workshops will be documented, videos to be hosted online).
  • Workshop ideas include, but are not limited to: brand/identity establishment, seeking commissions or custom work, portfolio development, bookkeeping, developing press packets, booth displays, setting up a studio, professional communications, developing a website.
