Applications are now open for the Visual Artists Mixer Match

2012 Visual Artist Mixer Match. The event, comprised of two-minute networking sessions between burgeoning or mid-career artists and local galleries or curators, aims to create an environment where education, positive feedback and connections are made.

This unique, fast-paced event is open to all artists with readiness to install a show, as well as all galleries, curators and retail locations interested in supporting and promoting local artists.

With an interest in presenting professionals ready and able to install a gallery show, this year’s event will be softly juried. Artists who demonstrate readiness are placed in a lottery for the chance to be selected to pitch their work one-on-one. Entry fee for those accepted is only $25. I Heart Art: Portland is dedicated to creating supportive, and educational environments for Portland’s thriving creative community by coordinating this unique Portland event.

Q: What happens at the intersection of speed-dating and sales networking?

A: Speed Networking—a whirlwind night of rapid-fire elevator pitches and electrified business connections!

Forty handmade artists have a mere two minutes to pitch their product to each of 20 local and regional buyers in an atmosphere a-buzz with energy and excitement. Professional advisors and crafty superstars will be on hand to give tips about line sheets, portfolios, pitching to blogs and more.       Hi Nancy, thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, the deadline for application for this event was April 25, as stated above. Applications have already been processed and participants chosen.

      However, part of the program includes a casual networking environment on the first floor of the space, where participants, invited “superstars” and other arts professionals will have an opportunity to meet and greet and make connections. This portion is open to the public, so please feel free to swing by and participate.
